Guizhou cili juice

Guizhou cili juice

贵州刺梨汁Guìzhōu cìlí zhī

Yellow juice from cili, the prickly fruit of the chestnut rose, with a distinctly tart, astringent taste. It is not ordinary pear juice. Pure juice is sharper than sweetened, diluted fruit drinks.

Specification
For the representative plain juice, wash ripe cili fruit, crush and press it, filter the solids, heat-treat and cool the juice before packaging. Sugar, honey, water or other juices occur in different drinks. These are not mandatory ingredients of plain juice; packaged formulas and processing differ.

How to enjoy it

Sip a little first to judge the tartness. Follow the package's serving instructions; check whether it is ready to drink or intended for dilution.

A useful check

Do not assume every cili juice is vegan or vegetarian: honey may be added and some clarification methods use gelatin. Confirm the actual product and processing; no health benefit is guaranteed.
