Story & history

A pattern made by pressing

Qianxian guokui gets its chrysanthemum-like surface from repeatedly pressing and turning firm dough with a wooden lever. Careful turning during baking colors the raised pattern. This substantial wheat bread is one of the local foods known collectively as the Four Treasures of Qianzhou.
