A CLOSER LOOK

How to recognize it

The plain light type is clear to pale, glossy and very viscous. Appearance alone cannot identify a syrup.

In the kitchen

Used in sweets such as ding ding candy to sweeten and help control sugar crystallization.

Not the same as high-fructose corn syrup, maltose syrup or invert syrup. Generic glucose syrup can come from other starches; check the label.
